Taplin'sTeaching- Actionable Practice from Education Research

Author: ashleytaplin

I am a secondary math specialist for a large public Texas school district. I deliver professional development across the country, work with schools to implement PLCs, incorporate strategies in the classroom, and write curriculum for our district. I taught high school math and was a department dean before becoming a math specialist. I graduated with my Bachelors in Arts in Mathematics and Masters in Teaching from Trinity University. In the summer of 2013, I traveled on a Fulbright scholarship to Germany and learned a lot about curriculum, diversity, and differentiation. This year, I am working with the Bureau of Education and Research to deliver professional development seminars on Increasing Student Perseverance to Improve Math Learning.
I love empowering teachers to build on their strengths and helping students make connections to what they're learning. When I'm not teaching, you may find me with my two boys and husband, at one of his basketball games, playing with our two pups, or making cake pops.
